A Couple Quick Things

Hello all!

I’m rather busy at the moment, so this is going to be rather brief.

A Reminder

(This is mostly directed at Tumblr, since that’s where I’m seeing the most acephobia and general horribleness towards people on the asexual spectrum)

I am not going to comment on the amount of hatred aimed at aces on Tumblr, especially the recent influx of it. I deal with enough acephobes and take comfort in the fact that they’re on the wrong side of history.

However!

I did want to take a moment to remind everyone that there is a strict anti-bullying, anti-bigotry policy on this blog (which is stated in the F.A.Q.) section. Simply put: I do not tolerate any kind of bullying or hatred. Racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, classism, ableism, any -ism (and other kind of prejudice) isn’t welcome on this blog and will not be tolerated.

If I catch wind of anyone reblogging and/or supporting the people who are currently attacking and bullying aces (and there’s one blogger in particular who has been targeting both asexual and bisexual bloggers on Tumblr), you will be permanently blocked from Asexual Artists. If you are blocked, I will pull your interview and links so fast your head will spin. I don’t care your reasons, I don’t care if you’re friends with an acephobe, if you are participating in acephobia and erasure, you are not welcome on this site. Asexual Artists is a safe place for everyone on the ace spectrum. And I will not tolerate any abuse directed at them.

More Interviews Needed

As always, Asexual Artists is open for more interviews. Every single kind of artist is welcome. If you’re anywhere on the spectrum, I would love to interview you.

I need more interviews to fill out the month, so please, send me an email: laurenjankowski27@gmail.com

Thank you, everyone!

Asexual Artists Assemble: More Announcements

Hello all!

I have a super exciting announcement and I’m so incredibly giddy about it.

Asexual Artists Panel at C2E2

C2E2 is one of the largest conventions in Chicago. I try to go every year because I like the atmosphere and a lot of my friends attend. One thing that has always bugged me is the lack of asexual representation. I decided to submit my “Where are the Asexual Voices?” panel this year. I didn’t think anything would come of it because they are always inundated with such amazing panels. But it couldn’t hurt to try.

Imagine my surprise when I received an email that said the panel had been accepted. “Where are the Asexual Voices” is going to be presented at C2E2 this year!

I am in an absolute state of shock. Wow. I am going to do my very best to bring more attention to asexual creators and I am going to give it my all. I plan to do a similar presentation to what I did at WisCon: a PowerPoint of the art from this site and a handout of links. Oh my god, I have so much work to do.

Oh my god, I wish I could properly explain just how massive this convention is. It’s the biggest one I do all year and the attendance is bigger every year. I’m so nervous, but I will do my best. If you’re in the Chicagoland area and are going to be attending, please try to stop by.

*I still have to update my appearances schedule on all my sites, including this one. So keep an eye on the scheduled appearances (I won’t find out the time and place of the panel until January 22nd I believe, but I will post the information once I receive it).

WANTED: More interviewees!

As you’ve probably noticed, I’m once again running low on interviewees. Please, keep spreading the word about this site to all the ace-identifying artists you know.

Remember: all experience levels (professional, student, aspiring) and all fields are welcome on this site.  Writers, visual artists, performance artists (dancers, actors, models, etc.), musicians (singers, playing instruments, etc.), and whatever else you can think of.

If you want to be interviewed, or have any questions, please send me an email: laurenjankowski27@gmail.com

Asexual Artists Assemble! Brief Update

(Cross-posted from Tumblr)

Hello all!

I apologize for being a bit quiet lately.  Con season is picking up and I’ve got writing things that require my attention.  I’m still trying to market both my own work and get the word out about Asexual Artists, which is devouring a good chunk of my time.

Speaking of, I have added a new page to the sites:  Appearances (Tumblr & WordPress).  This is for upcoming events where you can find asexual artists.  If you have an event you want to promote, just shoot me an email (laurenjankowski27@gmail.com).  I hope to see some of your lovely faces at upcoming appearances.  It’s always awesome to meet fellow aces in person.

I’m still thinking of ways to get the word out about this site.  As I mentioned once, I have considered doing a podcast or starting a YouTube channel for Asexual Artists.  However, at the moment, my time constraints are a bit of an issue.  Being an indie author is no easy feat.  Rest assured, my dedication to this site will never waver.

I’d write more, but I’m a little low on sleep and my mind isn’t really cooperating right now.
